Field & Stream
teaching children to shoot, fish, and hunt safely

Forrestel Farm is a year-round destination for sportsmen. Bill Keppler and Dennis Button teach campers how to shoot, hunt, and fish, in a safe and friendly environment. Kids have the opportunity to shoot bows, .22 rifles, and 20 gauge shotguns.

Campers choose from a range of targets at varying distances. The archery specialty introduces beginners to the sport and keeps experienced archers challenged.

Fishing is fun for campersFishing

Dennis takes the kids to his favorites spots on the farm, secret fishing holes and private stocked ponds. The kids will catch carp, perch, pike, wall eye, bull head, trout, small and large mouth bass.

Bill, a lifelong sportsman, teaches children to shoot .22 rifles on our new rifle range at camp and 20 gauge shotguns at a local club. Safety and enjoyment of the sport is our first concern.

Bill takes the kids out into the field at the Forrestel Hunting Preserve where they learn the basics of hunting, hunter safety, tracking, and dog handling.

Campers do not hunt while camp is in session but participants in the Shooting & Hunting Specialty receive a free pass for predator hunting at the Forrestel Hunting Preserve in the fall.

Forrestel is an ideal place for a child to learn to hunt. Bill Keppler, Mary’s brother, operates the Forrestel Farm Hunting Preserve where he raises ducks, pheasant, and chukars.
