Ace is a typical Appaloosa gelding – a bit lazy and a bit stubborn but very safe. Ace has a little something to teach every rider so he is used in all lessons from beginners up through our advanced riders. Under his grumpy exterior is a very nice horse that you can't help but like.

Baby really is a sweetheart. Despite her young age she is quiet and tolerant of any level rider. She has very smooth, easy gaits that make her great for campers learning to trot or cantering for the first time.

Ben has definitely been there, done that. He had many years as a successful hunter before coming to camp so he is a favorite for our campers that jump. He is quiet on trails and enjoys a good splash in the horse pond.

Biscuit is a wonder pony! She can trot around all day taking care of our beginner riders and then turn around and jump a course with a more advanced rider. She also loves trail rides and cross country jumping.

Blondie has just as much character as he does hair! Blondie is great for any confident rider but mostly loves to jump. Blondie also loves to swim in the pond, jump cross country and make funny faces at campers in the barn!

Bonnie is back for her second summer at Forrestel. She is a very quiet Thoroughbred and is reliable on trails. She is also used for our advanced riders to practice their schooling on the flat.

Brandy is new to us this summer but is guarenteed to become a favorite. She has years of trail riding experience but this summer will also be used for ring work by our advance riders. She is very quiet and absolutly a gentle giant.

Buttercup

Buttercup loves to relax on trail rides and swim in the horse pond. She is a beautiful ride for someone with soft hands and a quiet seat. With the right rider Buttercup is very fancy around a course of fences.

Cisco

Cisco is another horse new to us this summer. We know he will be a great trail horse and great for our advanced riders. We have high hopes that with some time he will be packing every level rider around our rings.

Fifi is a lovely mare. She can teach any level rider from beginners all the way up to those jumping our courses. Don't take her out of the ring though- she hates trail rides!

Flash is pretty much a legend here at Forrestel. He is a very patient, forgiving gelding that any level rider can enjoy. He loves trail rides but hates water so don't ask him to go into the horse pond!

Frodo is also new to us this summer. He has been a children's horse for many years and will be great for our campers just learning to ride. Frodo also loves trail rides and our horse pond.

Gracie has had a very busy life - from successful racehorse to show hunter to lesson horse she has done it all. Her age is starting to slow her down a little bit but she is still a great horse for campers learning to jump and for trail rides.

Grappa is very unique! He is a Canadian mustang and has a thick build that provided him plenty of warmth for when he was in the wild. Over the years he has developed into one of our best jumping horses. He still likes to get out in the open though and will carry anyone on a peaceful trail ride.

Herschel has been with the camp for many, many years. He is a very solid horse over fences and therefore is used mostly for our campers that jump. However, he also likes getting out on trails and taking a dip in our horse pond.

Jack is another safe, reliable sole. He has an extensive dressage background and is great for any rider on the flat. He is so obedient that he mostly takes care of our beginners and those campers learning to canter.

King sees no reason to rush life. His theory is why trot when you can walk and why walk when you can stand. With his patient attitude he is great for any beginner rider and can be really helpful to any timid rider.

Lopez spent a winter showing on the IHSA circuit with college riders and has really made us proud. He is tolerant of all types of riders and is just as easy to jump as he is to ride out on a quiet trail ride.

Description: Mouse is a worker bee in the summer- going all day long. She has a very cute, tight jump but can be known to throw in a buck after a good sized fence. No need to worry though- her bucks will only make you laugh and have never gotten anyone off.

Nimmy

Nimmy is the perfect lesson pony. He stays sweet, consistent and forgiving with any level rider. On top of all of that he is cute! Nimmy is used mostly for our beginner and intermediate riders and anyone on the trails.

Oscar is known for his grumpy faces but we know it is all an act. He is a lovely guy to ride with an easy canter depart that makes him ideal for campers learning to canter. He was ridden western for many years so is never in a real big hurry.

Reno is our oldest resident this year but you would never know it. This pony is still going strong with any level rider. He will take care of our smallest beginner riders but can still teach any advanced rider a thing or two over fences.

Saint earned his name the first time our riding director rode him and he has continued to live up to it since then. He is perfect for beginners to advanced but with his easy canter depart he mostly helps campers learning to canter.

Don't let his name fool you, Scruffy is a very cool dude. He has spent the winter showing on the IHSA circuit with college riders and everyone loved him. He is best for our intermediate to advanced riders but also loves to go on trail rides and swim in our horse pond.

Seeker is quite the character! He works best with our intermediate to advanced riders and is always doing something to make everyone laugh. From making funny faces to carrying his own lead rope this is a pony everyone should get to know!

Tango will be returning for his second summer with Forrestel. He was practically born a perfect lesson horse- patient, kind and forgiving. Tango looks after our beginner riders and is wonderful for teaching campers how to canter.
